The Effect of Hydrogen Ion Concentration on the Production of Carbon Dioxide by Bacillus Butyricus and Bacillus Subtilis

نویسنده

چکیده

1. The maximum rate of CO(2) production of Bacillus butyricus was found to be at a pH value of 7; of Bacillus subtilis at pH 6.8. If the pH value be raised or lowered there is a progressive decrease in the rate of production of CO(2). 2. Spontaneous recovery follows the addition of alkali to either organism, while addition of acid is followed by recovery only upon addition of an equivalent amount of alkali, and is not complete except when the amount of acid is very small.

Biological Control of African Violets Root-Knot Disease by the Used of Extracellular Protease Bacillus

The present study explored the efficacy of Bacillus spp. and protease production for biocontrol of the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne javanica in African violet media. Among 100 bacterial isolates from various soils, the highest nematode mortality was observed for treatments with isolate GM-18, which was identified as Bacillus subtilis based on cultural and morphological characteristics and 16S...

Keratin Production by Decomposing Feather Waste Using Some Local Bacillus spp. Isolated from Poultry Soil

Background; Feather waste is generated in large amounts as a by-product of commercial poultry processing. The main component of feather is keratin. The main purpose of this study was to identify Bacillus spp. (the keratinolytic bacteria) that are able to degrade the feather for producing keratin. Methods; Bacillus spp. Were isolated from the waste of poultries located in Miyaneh city. The bact...

An alternative bacterial expression system using Bacillus pumilus SG2 chitinase promoter

Background: Chitin is an abundant natural polysaccharide found in fungi, algae, and exoskeleton of insects. Several bacterial species are capable of utilizing chitin as their carbon source. These bacteria produce chitinases for degradation of chitin into N-acetyl-D-glucosamine. So far, regulation of the chitinase encoding genes has been studied in different bacterial species. Among Bacillus spe...

Investigation of the effect of biosurfactant of Bacillus subtilis against Staphylococcus strains biofilms

Background: Biosurfactants are compounds that are produced by different microorganisms and have an emulsifying property. This study aimed to investigate extractive biosurfactant from bacillus subtilis (PTCC1720) against the biofilms of Staphylococcus aureus (PTCC 1112), Staphylococcus saprophyticus (PTCC 1440) and Staphylococcus epidermidis (PTCC 1435). Materials and Methods: This study was con...

MOLECULAR CLONING AND EVALUATION OF WILD PROMOTER IN EXPRESSION OF BACILLUS SPHAERICUS PHENYLALANINE DEHYDROGENASE GENE IN BACILLUS SUBTILIS CELLS

To evaluate the role of wild promoter of L-phenylalanine dehydrogenase (PheDH) gene, referred to as pdh, from Bacillus sphaericus in expression, cloning of pdh gene in Bacillus subtilis was performed. The whole pdh gene was cloned in pHY300PLK shuttle vector and amplified, construct (pHYDH) then transformed in B. subtilis ISW1214 and E. coli JM109. The pdh endogenous promoter presented no effec...
